Risk Assessments
Risk Assessments are the systematic evaluation of workplace activities designed to identify potential risks and determine appropriate control measures to eliminate or reduce the potential of injury. Job Safety Analysis (JSA) or Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) are safety management tools used to identify risks or hazards associated with a particular task and control measures that must be implemented to eliminate or reduce the potential for injury.

Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) are also safety management tools used to identify risks or hazards associated with a particular task and control measures that must be implemented to eliminate or reduce the potential for injury. SWMS are predominately used for more high risk construction works.

Plant Risk Assessment (PRA) are designed to identify hazards associated with the installation, commissioning, decommissioning, dismantling, erection and use of plant. PRA assist in identifying control measures that must be implemented to eliminate or reduce the potential for injury. Plant is defined as any machinery, installations, mobile plant, equipment or tools used in the workplace.

It is a legal requirement in every State & Territory to conduct Plant Risk Assessments for all plant and equipment annually.

Manual Handling Risk Assessment (MHRA) is a safety management tool used to identify and control manual handling risks associated with workplace tasks and activities. These should be completed in accordance with established Codes of Practice for Manual Handling.
